EatBeat is an AI nutrition app built on the Nordic Nutrition Recommendations 2023 (NNR 2023). Instead of counting calories, the app helps users balance essential nutrient groups through a Health Points (HP) system, AI food recognition from photos, and a personalized AI Nutritionist. The product combines published nutrition science with gamification that makes healthy eating sticky. GlobalEdgeMarkets (GEM) joined as fractional growth partner to lead the US market entry, the B2B2C monetization design, and the seed-round positioning.

Challenge

EatBeat had a real differentiator — the NNR 2023 framework, backed by over 1,000 peer-reviewed studies — but no US brand awareness, no acquisition playbook, and an untested B2B2C model:

  • US launch from zero: no existing distribution or paid acquisition baseline.
  • Crowded category: MyFitnessPal, Noom, and LifeSum dominated mindshare; Nordic Diet was the differentiator but had no positioning behind it.
  • Untested B2B2C model: the partner side (restaurants, farm-to-table providers, wellness pros) had not been pressure-tested against real revenue.
  • Seed-round narrative: needed defensible market sizing ($60B US wellness app market, $3.5T restaurant ecosystem) and traction proof to back it.

Strategic Approach by GlobalEdgeMarkets

GEM came in across five workstreams as fractional CMO and growth partner — covering market entry, productization, paid acquisition, engagement, and fundraising.

Market Entry and Expansion

GEM led the US launch from Estonia: positioning against MyFitnessPal, Noom, and LifeSum on the Nordic angle, designing the dual-entity structure (EatBeat OÜ in Estonia, EatBeat LLC in the US, with planned Canada expansion), and identifying the target B2C audiences — health enthusiasts, busy professionals, eco-conscious consumers, and millennials/Gen Z.

Productization and Monetization

GEM helped productize three layers of the platform: consumer side — AI Food Recognition (photo → nutrient breakdown), Health Points (80+ HP daily target), a 5,000-item nutrient database, and the AI Nutritionist; B2B side — restaurants, food delivery, farm-to-table providers, wellness professionals, and brands as paying partners through subscriptions, joint marketing, ad revenue, and data analytics; subscription tiering — $49.99/year Standard, $69.99/year Premium with AI Nutritionist and partner programs.

Paid Acquisition (US Pilot)

GEM ran a US pilot from June through October 2024 in two phases. The paid phase (June–July) acquired ~2,300 active users via Meta, Google, and YouTube. The organic phase (July–October) added 1,500 more, driven by brand recognition built during the paid phase plus influencer activations. CAC averaged $2.50–$10 — well below the $10–$50 industry benchmark.

Engagement and Retention

The product team worked with GEM to dial in the engagement loops between AI Nutritionist, HP gamification, and partner offers. Post-campaign, engagement held at 12m 12s average session time per active user, 24.3% WAU stickiness, and 100–120 daily active users sustained.

Fundraising and Financial Strategy

GEM structured the seed-round narrative: $500K to fund the US launch and R&D, allocated 58% growth (market launch, customer acquisition) and 42% R&D (AI Nutritionist, partner integrations). The financial story projected $866K+ in 2025 revenue, scaling to a $10M target by 2027 at 68% net margin, with B2B monetization capturing 0.1% of the restaurant and delivery markets via subscriptions, data analytics, and API integrations.

Conclusion

The Nordic Diet science and the AI engine were already in place when GEM joined. What needed building was the commercial layer — US market positioning, the B2B2C revenue model, the paid acquisition playbook that brought CAC below $10, and the seed-round narrative that put real traction behind the science. EatBeat’s next phase is B2B expansion: signing farm-to-table providers, restaurant chains, and health professionals onto the platform as paying partners.
